Tella Participates in YC Summer 2020
Grant
We've got some pretty cool news to share: Tella has been part of the latest Y Combinator batch! Yup, the first fully remote batch. There weren't many dinners in Mountain View, instead there was a lot of Zoom. 😄
Back in May, Michiel and I had the mad idea to quit our jobs and start Tella. Around the same time a friend of ours suggested we give YC a crack. And now here we are, at the end of the Summer 2020 batch—it's been a bit of a ride! (but it's also just the start of the ride) Our users have created thousands of videos, we launched on ProductHunt, people made quarantine birthday messages on Tella, and I got mistaken for Freddie Mercury.

YC have helped start and grow some of the most innovative software companies of the past decade. Webflow, Segment, Amplitude, GitLab, and Zapier are all products of Y Combinator (some of which we use on a daily basis at Tella). And then there are the household names like Airbnb, Dropbox, Twitch, and Reddit. It's humbling company to be in.
Whether it's thinking about product/market fit, writing better emails, or looking after your mental health, YC's experience manifests itself in advice for so many different aspects of running a startup. We've got to give a special thanks to our partners, Eric Migicovsky and Gustaf Alströmer. They've helped us stay focussed, find our first users, and build a platform to grow Tella into a product and company that can change the way people create video. We're pumped to have YC partnering with us for the rest of the journey.
If you're wondering what the hell Tella is, read on.
